Dating a Plant Lady is a horrible, dreadful, exasperating experience.
Until it’s not.
Sure, most days, a quick trip to the store will inevitably end with you browsing the garden section for hours, trying to convince your Plant Lady not to spend her rent money on more greenery.
Sure, you’ll have to comfort your Plant Lady through the stages of grief as she thins out her plants.
And sure, there’s the constant questioning from your Plant Lady:
"What do you think about this plant?"
"Should I put this Sansevieria here?"
"Can you look up why my tail isn’t growing?"
Plant Ladies are crazy without a doubt. They're the kind of crazy that means each plant is given just as much (if not more) attention than you sometimes. But if you have a Plant Lady, you should love her for it.
Why?
Because despite everything above, there’s also the days when you get to see your Plant Lady’s passion and share in her triumphs. You get to see flowers bloom, seedlings start, and a glow on her face as she scans blank soil for new sprouts.
You get to wake up surrounded by plants and see, smell, and enjoy all the hard work your Plant Lady put in. You get to look at all of the plantlings and reflect on how much your Plant Lady cares for each and every one.
Dating a Plant Lady is not something I would trade for the world. Since my girlfriend turned into a Plant Lady, we have eaten home-grown strawberries, picked fresh basil, and planned our future gardens together. I have learned lots about plants and their various uses, needs, and aesthetics. I have even grown to build my own desires for our plants, and I have picked up a hobby that I can share in and enjoy with my Plant Lady for years to come.
If you’re lucky enough to date a Plant Lady, care for her like she does her plants. Having a Plant Lady means you get to enjoy fresh air, rich fruit, nutritious vegetables, and a beautiful home. But above all else, having a Plant Lady means you have someone special to bond with, someone special to grow old with, and someone special to dream with.
